The Trick to Candle Burning

So you just bought your favorite scented candle and you want to make it last, but how?

Here's a few tips and tricks. One is to never burn the candle longer then 4 hours tops. Blow the candle out and let the wax harden again before relighting. The longer you let the wax liquefy the more scent is being dispersed into the air and therefore causing the candle to lose it's scent. Make sense?

Now with that being said, you don't want to burn a candle for a short amount of time either. Wax has a memory and burning a candle for a short amount of time might cause what is called tunneling. Tunneling happens when the "melt pool" or liquefied wax does not reach the sides of the jar. The liquefied wax will harden but much softer as it has been burned, so the next time you light the candle the melt pool will burn easier and burn down instead of out causing wax to remain on the sides of the jar. Not very pretty.

Also another thing to keep in mind is that some large candle manufactures pour candle jars about 3/4 of the way with plain wax (no scent) and then fill the rest with scented wax. This helps them cut back on the costs of making candles as well as helping them lower the cost to you. Lower cost for you but at the end not a good deal.

A good candle should AND will burn evenly all way to the bottom of the jar and smells great from the first burn to the last.

I hope these tips were useful and you learned a bit about candle burning.

Til next time,

Laura

First Blog Post!

Hi Everyone and Welcome to Become SoyLicious!

This if my first time blogging so please be patient with me as I learn the ropes.

My name is Laura and if you don't already know me, I'm a HUGE candle geek. I mean what isn't there to love about candles? They fill a home with warmth and light and there is just something so relaxing about the flickering light of a candle. And don't get me started on fragrances. Did you know that smell is one of the strongest senses we have? It's a fact. : )

Now let me tell you that being a candle geek I have burned just about every candle that has come my way. I even made a few of my own but, in the end I found that I loved to burn and sell candles more then I enjoyed making them. That's when I came across SoyLicious.com. SoyLicious is a new candle company that just launched and is growing leaps and bounds. They offer soy candles, room sprays, tart chunks and electric melters. They also offer a COTM (candle of the month) program that is a candle lover's dream. So if you love candles as much as I do, please vist my website at www.soylicious.com/lauravazquez and read about all these amazing candles.

Take Care,

Laura

P.S. Remember to book mark this page and come back often as I will be posting more information about candles....and me of course.
